Pure Love
(AZADI KE PANKH CREATIONS )
Tulsi was a young girl popular in school,
neighborhood, everywhere. She was an only child to her parents and was raised
with lot of love and affection. Her parents tried their best to fulfill all her
wishes by getting the best of everything for her. Tulsi also loved her parents
very much.
Tulsi's birthday was approaching. Her
parents decided to gift her a video game since Tulsi had been longing for one
since a long time. Her joy knew no bounds when she received the gift. She
thanked her parents and considered herself to be the luckiest to have them as
her parents.
As she started playing the game, she became
more and more addicted to it. As soon as she came back from school, Tulsi would
fling her bag, socks, bottle etc in one corner of the room and immediately sit
down to play with her new video game. This had now become a routine for her.
And, eventually this also started affecting her studies. Her mum was aghast to
see her test scores as she had performed very badly. Tulsi's mother
disconnected her video game and packed it off in a box and warned Tulsi that,
she'll get it back only after her exams now. Tulsi felt extremely infuriated
with her mum.
Tulsi threw a tantrum - she stomped off to
her room and flung her schoolbooks across the room. In doing so, she knocked
over the photo frame on her bedside table. The frame broke and her favorite
picture of the family was damaged. She locked herself up in her room and
refused to eat dinner with her parents. Instead, she made a note of all the
times that her mum had not allowed her to do as she pleased and disliked her
mum for all those times.
The next morning, Tulsi woke up earlier
than usual, because she was hungry. Her eyes were swollen because she had been
crying all night. She was grumpy and still angry with her mum. She was
thinking, "Mum didn't let me play my game yesterday. How can I be nice to
her this morning? I must show her that I am still hurt!" She decided to
leave for school without having breakfast and without saying goodbye to her
mum. She quickly got ready and sneaked out.
As she got closer to the bus stop, Tulsi
was surprised to see her mum waiting there with a smile on her face. Her mum
was carrying Tulsi's school bag and lunch box, both of which Tulsi had
forgotten at home. Mum gave Tulsi a big hug, but Tulsi did not hug her back.
Her mum patted Tulsi on the head and left saying, "Have a nice day at
school, dear".
On her way to school, Tulsi wondered why
her mum had not scolded her for forgetting the school bag at home, or even for
her behavior since last night. She could not concentrate on her classes as she
kept thinking about her mum's reaction that morning. At lunchtime, Tulsi found
a note in her lunch box. It said, "No matter what happens, I will always
love you! Love mum." Tulsi had sneaked out of the house to let her mum
know that she was still angry with her, but her mum had a smile on her face and
acted like everything was ok. This made Tulsi think about what love really is.
Had her love for her mum disappeared? Is true love temporary?
She felt she needed to apologize to her
mum, but did not know how. She thought about the broken photo frame and the
books thrown all across the floor. She also recalled that she had not hugged
her mum back at the bus stop in the morning.
When she got home, Tulsi first went to her
room to freshen up before going to speak to her mum. She found that her mum had
replaced the broken photo frame with a new one. She also found the latest
edition of Akram Express on the topic Pure Love lying on her study table.
